Detectives are keen to speak to a couple in a car who shouted at a man following an incident which saw a victim being approached from behind, pulled to the ground and had money taken from his wallet.

The robbery was reported to have happened in Outram Street junction with Northern Bridge Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield last month.

Nottinghamshire Police detectives are now appealing for witnesses including a driver and a passenger who stopped to shout at the offender to stop.

Detective Sergeant Gary Hewson is leading the investigation. He said: “We are investigating a robbery and we need to locate a significant witness to help with our enquiries.

“It was reported that a man had his wallet removed and cash taken.

“Allegedly a couple stopped in a car and shouted at the offender to stop, who ran off, close to the ASDA supermarket.

“We have vague details, but we are keen to speak to the couple who tried to help.

“If that was you, then please do contact police to help with our investigation. We hope by issuing this appeal it might jog people’s memories who might have been in the area at the time.

“The incident was reportedly to have happened at late March 2021,  we believe it was late afternoon to early evening.

“If you can help, please call 101, quoting incident number 283 of 29 March 2021.”
