Readers noted that the aircraft seemed to be circling the area in a holding pattern.
The incident happened at around 6:52 pm on Tuesday 18 August.
Flight monitoring site AeroHub news said:
‘ABX Air #GB984 has now landed back at East Midlands following an aborted oceanic crossing.
‘Coincidentally, an issue affected the same flight on the same route just 19 days ago, July 30th. Different aircraft though.’
