Disposable barbecue causes fire in the open in Rushcliffe

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service continue to be called out to fires in the open.

A spokesperson for East Leake fire station said:

‘Please do not use disposable bbqs and where possible avoid the use of any open flame (bonfires and normal bbqs) during the dry hot spell.

‘Across the county we are dealing with fires that could have been easily avoided.

‘This incident was near the 11 Arches on the meadows near Stanford on Soar.

‘To the centre of the fire we found the remaining parts of a disposable bbq.

‘Unfortunately due to large amount of people there we were called back to another separate seat of fire later in the evening.

‘Both believed to be deliberate ignition and have been reported to the police.

‘Thank you and stay safe in the sun.’
