Drivers across Nottingham are being warned to expect ongoing disruption over the coming weeks, with a wide programme of roadworks, closures and temporary traffic measures in place across the city until the end of May and beyond.
A number of long-running schemes are already underway, including parking restrictions on Woodside Road between Derby Road and University Boulevard, which remain in place until the end of May as part of National Highways works in the area.
Further disruption continues in the west of the city, where closures and parking suspensions linked to highways works have been affecting Thane Road, Abbeyfield Road, Redfield Road and Bull Close Road, while Severn Trent works have closed Lindfield Road in Sherwood until August.
In the city centre and inner areas, a series of shorter-term works are also taking place.
Temporary traffic signals are in place on Curzon Street in St Ann’s, while Woodborough Road has been subject to an emergency closure between Mission Street and Querneby Avenue. Nearby, Sherwood Rise has also been closed between Gregory Boulevard and First Avenue for utility works.
Elsewhere, lane closures have been in place on key routes including London Road near Trent Bridge, with further disruption expected on Ilkeston Road and Wollaton Road during the week beginning 13 April. An emergency closure on Alpine Street in Basford has also led to diversions, while additional works are planned on Spring Road and Highbury Road.
Several residential streets are affected by temporary closures and parking restrictions, including Wilford Grove, Kimbolton Avenue and Heathcote Street, with most linked to ongoing Severn Trent and telecoms works.
Looking ahead, further traffic management measures will be introduced across the city later in April. These include multi-way temporary lights at the junction of Bulwell Lane and Rosegarth Walk, additional signals on Mansfield Road and St Ann’s Way, and resurfacing works on Denman Street West. Lane closures are also expected on University Boulevard and Wilford Lane.
There will also be a partial closure of Bulwell Bus Station on 16 April to allow installation works to take place, with alternative arrangements in place for passengers.
Towards the end of the month, further disruption is scheduled on key routes including Western Boulevard, Middleton Boulevard and Green Lane in Clifton, alongside a series of short-term closures on streets such as High Cross Street and Poulton Drive.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly when travelling through the city centre, west Nottingham and key commuter routes, as overlapping works are expected to increase congestion at peak times.
