Driver arrested on alleged drug-driving offences in West Bridgford

An operation to tackle speeding led to Rushcliffe police officers making a drug-drive arrest.

The Rushcliffe Operation Reacher team has recently been out at various locations within the area running a speeding operation following concerns raised by local residents.

A 24-year-old man was stopped in Ambleside, Gamston, and was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs. He was taken into police custody and has since been released under investigation pending blood analysis

Speeding and driving whilst over the influence of drink or drugs both come under the ‘fatal four’ road offences. They are among the four main causes of fatal crashes – the other two being using a mobile phone while driving and driving without wearing a seatbelt.
