Driver charged after six-vehicle crash seriously injured two people

Nottinghamshire Police has charged a man with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a crash involving six vehicles near Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Ty Chapman, 25, from Mansfield, has also been charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance. He has been bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 12 February 2021.

Road closures were put in place following the incident which happened at the junction of the A611 Derby Road and the B6139 Coxmoor Road shortly before 6.40pm on 30 August 2020.

Multiple people suffered minor injuries. Two people were seriously injured with one remaining in hospital. Their injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening.

Detective Sergeant Adam Cooper, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We’d like to thank members of the public who have assisted us during our investigation into this serious incident. We have now charged a man in connection with it and we now await the outcome through the courts.”
