A bus caught fire on Mapperley Plains on a Sky Blue route.
Nottingham City Transport said:
‘Regrettably, one of our buses caught fire on Mapperley Plains last week, whilst operating a Sky Blue 47 to the City Centre.
‘Thanks to the quick reaction of our driver, Nathan Francis, everyone was safely evacuated from the bus and there were no reported casualties.’
David Conway, NCT’s Head of Operations, paid tribute to Nathan, saying:
“His calm and immediate thinking, taking swift action to ensure the safety of his customers are credit to him, ensuring a positive outcome to a bad situation.”
“Nathan’s heroic actions were recognised by customers on the bus, as well as colleagues and commentators on social media.
“NCT will work with all agencies to determine the cause of the fire and act on any recommendations that are made from that investigation.
