A young drug dealer who led police on a high-speed chase through a residential area has been warned he faces jail if he reoffends.
Warren Grossett was spotted speeding in Bilborough by officers who had previous dealings with him.
They signalled him to stop but the 22-year-old accelerated off.
Nottingham Crown Court heard his cousin Reece Broddell, 30, was in the passenger seat and was seen throwing bags of cannabis out the window during the pursuit.
Grossett continued to drive dangerously around the Bilborough Estate for several minutes, breaking red lights and overtaking on the wrong side of the road.
At one point, he reached 50mph in a 20mph residential street before stopping the Vauxhall Astra in Bilborough Road, where officers arrested both men.
The court heard the pursuit took place on 23 September 2020 and was the second time Grossett had been arrested that year.
On 13 February 2020, a drugs search warrant was executed at his home address, with officers finding cocaine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, cash and mobile phones, which upon examination revealed Grossett had been dealing drugs.
A further drugs warrant was executed at the same address on 15 May 2022 and officers again found cocaine and cannabis in his bedroom, along with evidence that Grossett had been dealing both drugs.
Grossett, of Redcliffe Road, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (28 September 2023) after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and two counts of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He was given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and warned he will go to jail if he reoffends. He must also complete a rehabilitation activity programme and carry out 80 hours unpaid work.
The court heard he had previously been sentenced for dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs in relation to the police chase. He pleaded guilty to both offences and was jailed for five months, suspended for two years, at a sentencing hearing held on 22 April 2021.
Broddell, of Nottingham Road, Basford, appeared in the dock alongside Grossett on Thursday (28 September) after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. He was also given a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and must attend a rehabilitation activity programme.

“Grossett has persistently supplied drugs in Nottingham and his jailing is good news for the city.
“I am also pleased to see his older cousin, Broddell, face the consequences of his actions.
“As a force we will relentlessly pursue those who deal drugs in our city and county – and I hope that this sentence serves as a clear message that Nottingham is no easy place to conduct this type of criminality.
“I would also urge anyone with any information about drug dealing in their area to come forward to the force, in confidence, at any time. Any intelligence helps build a picture of the activities of these groups and will help ensure they are brought to justice.”
