Drug dealer sentenced after police raid recovers ‘treasure trove’ of evidence

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, he was handed a two-year jail sentence, suspended for two years.

A drug dealer was caught by police when they forced their way into a ground floor flat and unearthed a treasure-trove of evidence.

Liam Rick, 30, was arrested on the morning of 28 January 2020 when officers acting on local intelligence carried out a search of the property in Mappleton Drive, Mansfield.

A small quantity of cannabis was found inside the property, along with cash, weighing scales and mobile phones.

Further examination of various mobile phones found at the property revealed compelling evidence of drug dealing, with several conversations relating to the sale of “sniff” – a popular slang term for cocaine.

Rick, also known as Liam Jordan, later admitted to three offences – one of possessing cannabis with intent to supply, one of supplying cannabis and one of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Inspector Nick Butler, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Drug dealing and drug-related crime has a really negative impact on our communities.

“Tackling these issues remains a key priority for the Mansfield neighbourhood policing team and we will continue to take the fight to local criminals by conducting this type of proactive raid.

“Jordan was very clearly involved in drug dealing and will be going to prison if he is caught doing so again. I sincerely hope he uses this opportunity to change his ways.”
