Drug dealer who hid heroin and cocaine in trousers jailed

Further wraps of heroin and cocaine, as well as mamba, were discovered in his pockets.

A persistent drug dealer has been jailed after police spotted him inside a car frantically stuffing items down his trousers.

Patrolling officers observed a BMW, believed to be involved in the drugs trade, parked in St Paul’s Terrace, Radford, at around 11am on 23 May 2024.

When officers approached the vehicle, they saw Jodie Brown in the front passenger seat.
Brown attempted to resist arrest and tried to run away, even after being handcuffed.

During a search, officers found packages containing wraps of heroin and cocaine, as well as a rock of each Class A drug, in his trousers.

Brown was also found clutching wraps of Class A drugs when he was detained by police in Sneinton Market on 28 August 2024.

Further wraps of heroin and cocaine, as well as mamba, were discovered in his pockets.
After being taken into custody, he racially abused a police officer.

Brown, of HMP Nottingham, was jailed for a total of five years and seven months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, 7 March.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, possession of Class A and Class B drugs, and causing racially aggravated alarm or distress.
Brown was also sentenced for two earlier offences involving drugs.

He and Remel Kenlock admitted conveying mobile phones and drugs into HMP Ranby in north Nottinghamshire.

Packages containing two mobile phones and cannabis were thrown over the wall into the prison grounds on 26 November 2021.

Both men pleaded guilty to two counts of conveying prohibited articles into a prison.
Kenlock, aged 30, of Merlewood Avenue, Manchester, was jailed for 15 months, suspended for two years.

Brown was sentenced for another incident on 3 March 2023, when police were called to a disturbance in Beeston.

Brown threw a bottle of milk and a microwave down a flight of stairs as officers arrived to investigate.

When he was detained and searched, police found heroin in his pockets. He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug in relation to the incident.

The court was told that Brown has 18 previous convictions, including drug dealing offences.

Detective Sergeant Hannah Frame, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Officers on patrol are always alert to suspected drug dealing, as we know the impact this illegal trade and associated crime have on communities.

“Brown thought he could get away with his offending by stuffing drugs down his trousers.
“He then attempted to run from the scene while in handcuffs.

“Officers immediately put a stop to his ill-advised attempt to flee and recovered the drugs after searching him.

“Detectives have worked hard to secure charges and build a watertight case against him.
“Brown is a persistent drug dealer with a number of previous offences to his name and has clearly not learned from previous spells behind bars.

“Class A drugs continue to ruin the lives of vulnerable people in our communities, but we know outcomes like this one can seriously disrupt the illegal trade.

“We work closely with the prison authorities to prevent drugs from being conveyed into prisons, as we know the risks they pose to both inmates and staff.”
