Drug driver appears in court after Rushcliffe car stop

A suspect has appeared in court after police carried out a proactive car stop.

Officers pulled over a vehicle which they believed was being driven erratically at around 2.45 am on Friday (6 January 2023).

A suspect was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

Lukasz Piotr Feliks, aged 39, of Carlton Hill, Carlton, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (7 January 2023) accused of failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Inspector Rob Lawton, the neighbourhood policing inspector for Rushcliffe, said: “This is exactly why we carry out proactive patrols and stop vehicles which are being driven erratically or if intelligence links them to potential criminality.

“It was an excellent piece of work by the officers on patrol to pull over this suspect.

“Drink and drug driving are extremely serious offences and we work hard all year round to educate people on the dangers of getting behind the wheel while under the influence as well as catch those who ignore the law.

“Our message remains a simple one – drink and drug-drivers will not be tolerated on Nottinghamshire’s roads.”
