Neighbourhood officers woke up a suspected drug dealer during an early morning raid of a house.
The Newark team executed the warrant in Currie Road after receiving intelligence linking a property to drugs supply.
Officers used a battering ram to force their way inside the address, shortly after arriving at 6.55am on Tuesday (16 July).
They then rushed into the house and surprised the property’s sole occupant, who was sleeping in a bed yards away at the time.
A swift search was subsequently carried out of the property, which resulted in the seizure of quantities of cannabis, cash and two mobile phones.
Several bottles of alcohol with the security tags still on them were also found and seized by police from within the address.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He was additionally arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
PC Richard Hodgman, of the Newark neighbourhood policing team, said: “Warrants like this one provide us with an excellent opportunity to follow up information we receive around potential criminality.
“On this occasion, we were able to take action and arrest a suspect after receiving intelligence linking a property to suspected drugs supply.
“As well as seizing quantities of Class B drugs during this raid, we also found two mobile phones and a range of items we strongly believe had been stolen.
“Tackling drug activity – in particular those who try and sell these substances in our communities – remains one of our chosen policing priorities in the Newark and Sherwood area.
“We know nobody wants to see drug dealers operating in their area, so if residents have an idea about anyone who could be involved in these illicit activities, we’d urge them to let us know.
“As this incident has shown, if we have the information, we will investigate these suspicions and look to take positive action.”
