East Midlands Aeropark Aviation Museum is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a Family and Community Fun Day this Sunday ( 2 August ).
The popular attraction is located on the northern edge of East Midlands Airport’s airfield, and provides raised viewing areas overlooking the runway for aviation enthusiasts.
The museum houses a substantial collection of heritage aircraft, some of which flew from the airport in the past. It is run by volunteers and has recently opened a new shop and café offering souvenirs and snacks.
Its celebration event will run from11am-5pm, with standard entrance fees applied – under fives free / children (5-16) £3 / adults £5 – parking included. As well as the usual attractions, there will be bouncy castles, face painting and community stalls, including the airport’s community engagement team.
East Midlands Airport’s Community Engagement Manager Colleen Hempson said: “We have had a strong partnership with the Aeropark ever since it opened 40 years ago on the other side of the airport – moving to its current location 25 years ago.
“It has been offering a great, affordable day out for families and aviation enthusiasts for four decades, and we’re looking forward to taking part in the celebrations on Sunday.”
