East Midlands Airport expects 200,000 passengers to take half-term sunshine getaway

East Midlands Airport (EMA) is expecting 200,000 people to enjoy some late sun abroad this October half term holiday.

The autumn break runs between October 19 and November 3, when many daily flights to a wide range of destinations remain in place, offering families a great choice to fly from an airport where the start to your holiday is relaxed and easy.

Some of the most popular destinations available over the half term include Lanzarote, Mallorca, Alicante, Malaga, Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Corfu, Crete and Rhodes. Other options among the 30 departing flights per day include destinations in Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Egypt, Tunisia, Poland, Ireland and Jersey.

So far 189,148 passengers are booked onto EMA flights over the half term period, with last-minute offers still available on many flights. These currently include (one week return, per person) £137 to Faro and £90 to Valencia with Ryanair; £143 to Ibiza and £290 to Palma with Jet2; and £150 to Alicante with Tui (prices correct at time of publication).

It’s easy to make the choice to fly from EMA when it’s so conveniently located next to the M1, with just a short walk from the car park or bus station to the terminal, and queuing for security under 15 minutes for more than 99% of customers throughout the summer. Once in the departure lounge, recent upgrades mean there’s more seating, new and refurbished bars, improved customer wi-fi, along with new toilets and baby changing facilities, to improve the experience while waiting for a flight.

Director of Customer Services and Planning at EMA Mike Grimes said: “The October half term is one last chance this year to make the most of the full flight schedule on offer from East Midlands Airport.

“As well as having a wide choice of flights and destinations, customers will benefit from the improvements we’ve completed in the terminal this year, to add to the effortless experience we’re proud to provide at EMA.”
