The region’s largest immersive sound bath is coming to Nottingham city centre this Summer and promises to leave participants floating on air.
Taking place at Nottingham Contemporary, the event has been organised by five creative sound healers – known as Sound Collective – who will be coming together alongside some special guests.
An ancient practice with roots in the wisdom of various civilisations, sound baths are immersive sonic experiences, designed to promote relaxation, meditation and healing.
Various instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes and other harmonic tools are used to ‘bathe’ participants in waves of soothing sounds, creating a sensory-rich environment that has the potential to achieve a higher state of consciousness.
The exhibition space at Nottingham Contemporary can comfortably fit 100-150 people laying down – helping to achieve East Midlands’ largest sound bath.
Nicole Windle, a yoga teacher, sound healer and one fifth of Sound Collective said: “After seeing other sound healers coming together abroad to create truly magical experiences, we were inspired. We felt the East Midlands deserved the same treatment and our collaboration, Sound Collective, was born.
“Nottingham Contemporary is an amazing space where we can bring a larger group together than is usually possible. The acoustics will be beautiful, we will have visuals projected on the walls, soft effective lighting and we have a wonderful line up of healers and guests, each bringing something a little different.”
The other sound healers that form Sound Collective are Fiona, Mikki, Katie and Rosie.
Nicole added: “We envisage creating healing vibrations to wash away worries, guide people to inner peace and create harmonious frequencies that will leave people uplifted. Whether you have taken part in a sound bath before, or always wanted to try, this is a unique opportunity to unwind and recharge with like-minded individuals – you don’t want to miss it!”
East Midlands largest sound bath takes place on Saturday 20th July, from 1.30pm to 3pm. Tickets are £44.
