The Edwalton Fields development near West Bridgford will join the city bus network from Sunday 1 September as Nottingham City Transport starts serving the area.
Green Line 7 will operate seven days a week linking Edwalton Fields with Melton Road, West Bridgford Centre, Trent Bridge, the Railway Station and City Centre.
Buses will run every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes and, thanks to financial support from Nottinghamshire County Council, every hour in the evenings and on Sundays.
David Conway, NCT Head of Operations said, “We look forward to welcoming the residents of Edwalton Fields on to their new daily bus service, which provides great access to West Bridgford Centre, the railway station and City Centre.”
Whilst the development is built, buses will temporarily operate along Rose Way, Jasmine Gardens, Lily Grove and back along Rose Way to return to Melton Road. The longer-term plan is to extend the service further in to Edwalton Fields, as turning facilities and access allow.
The new service to Edwalton Fields is part of a wider package of improvements to buses in West Bridgford, which sees:
- buses every 5 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes between City, Railway Station, Trent Bridge and West Bridgford Centre
- the Monday to Saturday daytime frequency of buses to Wilford Hill and Compton Acres on Green 8 and 9 doubled
- double deck buses serving Gamston every 15 minutes
- brand new electric buses introduced on Green 5, 7, 8 and 9 during early 2025
Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at Nottinghamshire County Council, said, “We are pleased to facilitate this service extension to connect the Edwalton Fields development with the wider West Bridgford area, as well as Nottingham City Centre.
“This is a great example of our commitment to ensuring that communities across Nottinghamshire have a reliable and regular bus service to connect them to leisure, health appointments, employment and education.
“We are looking forward to hearing about the success of the service extension as residents in Edwalton Fields start to use it and I would encourage everyone living in the area to give the bus a try.”
