Describing a step change since its last Good Ofsted in 2012, the report highlights the impact of the new leadership at the school, and in particular, the changes made by Head Teacher Anthony Thomas, saying, ‘Since your appointment, the leadership team, with support from the trust, has enabled Edwalton Primary School to flourish. The school is now achieving standards above those seen nationally in almost every area’.

During the visit, inspectors were pleased to find that the school was supported by, and engaged with, parents from the community it serves. Inspectors said, ‘Parents are overwhelming positive about the school…One parent commented, ‘My child enjoys attending Edwalton, the staff are extremely helpful and I am amazed at how well he has developed over the course of the last year or so.’

Head Teacher Anthony Thomas said that the report reflects Edwalton’s amazing children and the hard work and commitment of his staff. “We are delighted with the Ofsted report which recognises that we are on a rapid journey of improvement at Edwalton Primary School. Our wonderful children are at the centre of every decision we make; they are the reason that we will continue to push for further improvement whilst continuing to celebrate the school’s uniqueness through our new curriculum.

“The staff and I would like to thank the parents and the wider community for their support, and most of all, we would like to thank the children for their enthusiasm and hard work which makes Edwalton Primary School the flourishing and vibrant school it is today.”
