Detectives investigating a stabbing have charged a man with attempted murder.
Police were called to a house in Wheatcroft Drive, Edwalton, at 12.45am on Wednesday (29 May) after reports a man had been repeatedly stabbed.
Andrew Thorpe, aged 37, has been charged with attempted murder and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
Thorpe, of Alfred Street North, St Ann’s, Nottingham, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Saturday 1 June).
The victim, a man in his 20s, remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, who is overseeing the investigation, said:
“This was a very serious assault and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case. Our investigation will now continue.”
Inspector Tim Cuthbert, district commander for Rushcliffe, added:
“I would like to thank residents for their co-operation while officers conducted inquiries following this incident.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident. That said, we have increased patrols in the area to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to one our officers.”
