A 19-year-old man who stabbed a 17-year-old boy in the leg in Wollaton Vale has been locked up for eight years.
Dejarn McLeod, of Weave Close in Basford, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (Friday 21 September 2018) having been found guilty of possession of a bladed article and wounding with intent.
The court heard how McLeod had stabbed the victim in the back of his thigh as he walked along the street near to the junction of Dentdale Drive at around 3.35pm on Monday 12 February 2018, before running off.
The victim was left with a 2ft-long zombie knife embedded in his leg causing life-long damage.
McLeod denied his involvement but was convicted by a jury following a trial in August 2018.
Detective Inspector Dave Lowe of Nottinghamshire Police said: “We’re pleased that we were able to bring about a quick result following this nasty attack. There is no place for knife crime in our communities, it is a cowardly and despicable way to behave, and we will continue to investigate all cases robustly and bring offenders to justice at the earliest opportunity.”
