A man has been arrested after an elderly man was seriously injured in an assault.
Officers were called to Ranson Road, Chilwell, at around 12.20pm on 16 December, after receiving reports from a member of the public that a man had reportedly been assaulted.
Police came to the man’s aid and took him to hospital to be checked over for his injuries.
The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.
It comes after officers received a similar report of another incident in which a man was left with facial injuries after being punched to the face on Carrfield Avenue, Toton, at around 2.25pm on the same day.
A 38-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm and theft.
Detective Sergeant Joanne Eaton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have arrested a man in connection with these two incidents and our enquiries into what happened are still on going.
“We are continuing to support the victim’s family as he remains in hospital.
“We would like to urge anyone who may have seen these incidents to come forward as it may help us with our investigation.”
