Electric vehicle charging points now available at West Bridgford car parks

Electric vehicle (EV) charging points have now been installed at Bridgford Road and Nursery car parks in West Bridgford by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to meet the increasing demand for EV charging opportunities across the Borough.

The new sites, funded, operated and maintained by delivery partner Qwello, add to the council’s growing list of car parks that can encourage greener travel by motorists.

The new hubs offer drivers, who still need to pay and display on arrival, rapid and medium charging options.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment and Safety, Cllr Rob Inglis, said: “We’re pleased to see the EV charging points installed and ready to use in West Bridgford’s town centre. The investment now sees Rushcliffe with the most council-owned EV charging points in Nottinghamshire.

“These spaces will be able to accommodate the rise in popularity of electric vehicles and give drivers a convenient place to stop when doing so.

“We’re happy to be building on the EV charging sites we’ve introduced in recent years. Our sites include Rushcliffe Country Park, Rushcliffe Arena, Gamston Community Hall, Gresham Sports Park, and Bunny Lane and Church Drive in Keyworth.

“The addition of these charging spaces is a vital part of our Carbon Clever journey, supporting our goal to become carbon neutral in our own operations by 2030, whilst also aligning with the Government’s target to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.”

Qwello charge points offer EV drivers high-availability charging featuring user-friendly options such as universally compatible Type 2 sockets, contactless credit/debit card payments, roaming network card compatibility, real-time availability tracking, in-app navigation and 15-minute advance station reservations. Martin Hale, Managing Director of Qwello UK, added: “As one of Europe’s largest charge point operators, Qwello is rapidly scaling up its operations, with thousands of new chargers being rolled out across the UK. We are thrilled to partner with Rushcliffe Borough Council to bring our user-friendly, feature-rich charging infrastructure to local EV drivers, making everyday charging effortless, accessible and reliable.”
