Emergency hospital appeal launched by Nottingham Hospitals Charity

PUBLISHED

Today Nottingham Hospitals Charity is launching an emergency appeal to raise funds for the NHS teams on the frontline of the battle against coronavirus.

The charity’s Chief Executive, Barbara Cathcart, said:

“These are strange and unprecedented times for all of us, and most particularly difficult for those who serve us in our NHS. As we watch the news, our hearts go out to the doctors, nurses and vast team of support staff who are caring for a very high volume of sick patients at this difficult time.

“Nottingham Hospitals Charity was formed to exclusively support patients and staff at the QMC and Nottingham City Hospital, and we believe this support is needed now more than ever.

“Our NHS staff are doing their utmost to keep things running in the face of real adversity. We know that many people around Nottingham wish to support our local NHS at this uniquely demanding time. For this reason we are announcing the launch of our ‘Help Your Hospital Heroes’ emergency appeal for Nottingham.

“With the support of communities across Nottingham, we can help maintain the wellbeing of our frontline staff through care packages and important wellness support, as well as providing extra equipment, as the need is identified and requested by front line staff.

“In addition we are turning over our charity office at City Hospital and our Charity Hub at QMC as distribution points for care packages and other essentials for NHS staff, locating our help right at the centre of where it’s needed.

“We are also asking anyone who can help to please make a financial donation online, however large or small, to our appeal via our website. We also have a Tap To Donate facility at our Charity Shop at QMC just behind Main Reception. For any companies who would like to donate non-perishable items, please get in touch with us via email at charity@nuh.nhs.uk.

“This way we can not only boost staff morale but also ensure that staff across our hospitals are able to face the coming weeks and months knowing that support is there for them in the vital task they face.”
