Emergency services called to incident near railway – Newark services delayed

Disruption between Lincoln Central and Newark Castle / Sleaford.

Update: 4:15 pm all lines now open – running with delays

East Midlands Railway said at 3:56 pm on 3 December:

‘The emergency services are dealing with an incident close to the railway between Lincoln and Newark Castle/Sleaford. This will affect our trains on the Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby and also Peterborough/Lincoln/Doncaster route.

‘The British Transport Police are on site to manage the incident.’

‘Trains running through the area in the Newark Castle/Sleaford direction may be delayed by up to 60 minutes from Lincoln Central or start/terminate at stations further down the line if possible.

‘Trains in the opposite direction are currently unaffected directly by the incident however may be delayed or altered as a result of disruption to the trains/crew scheduled to work these services.

‘At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 90 minutes. As soon as the problem is fixed our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 17:00.’
