FA Cup Forest v Man United: Fans without tickets should stay away, say police

Forest v Man United – Fans without valid tickets have been warned not to attend this evening’s match between Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.
The two Premier League sides will go head-to-head at the City Ground in the fifth round of the FA Cup later on today (28 February).

A joint ticket check operation will be held by Nottinghamshire Police officers and Nottingham Forest ahead of the fixture, which is expected to be a sell-out.

Visiting supporters will be required to produce the physical paper tickets sold to them before being allowed into a sterile area on approach to the turnstiles.

Thousands of Manchester United fans are expected to attend the 7.45pm kick off, with police telling supporters not to make the trip unless they have valid tickets.

Chief Inspector Clive Collings, Match Commander for Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The message for those proposing to travel to this fixture without a valid match ticket is clear – don’t.

“You will not be allowed access to the stadium and your journey will be wasted.

“The safety of those attending this – and every other – game at the City Ground, is of paramount importance to both Nottingham Forest and Nottinghamshire Police.

“Ticketing levels are set to ensure the event can be safely enjoyed by all who attend legitimately.

“We are expecting this fixture to be another sell-out and are preparing for thousands of fans to come along to support their teams.

“Nottinghamshire Police recognises that the vast majority of fans will want to attend this fixture for the sheer enjoyment of football.

“Our aim is to ensure that everyone can enjoy their evening in a safe and secure environment.”

Eamon Collins, Ticket Office Manager at Nottingham Forest, said: “We will be conducting a joint ticket check operation with Nottinghamshire Police for supporters visiting the City Ground on the night of the match.

“Visiting supporters will be required to produce a valid match ticket before being allowed into a sterile area on approach to the turnstiles.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Nottingham Forest Football Club only provide physical paper tickets for away allocations during the 2023-24 season.

“As a result, any visiting supporters entering the site producing a print at home, e-ticket, or anything other than an official match ticket, will be turned away and asked to leave the site.

“We strongly urge visiting supporters without a valid match ticket not to attend the City Ground on the night.”
