Family of assault victim who needs lifelong care set up fundraiser – can you help?

Toby was assaulted in May 2020 – it is doubtful that he will ever walk again and he will probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, he also has irreversible brain damage.

At the time of publishing over £7,100 has been raised in less than 24 hours.

The fundraiser reads:

A year ago our lovely boy Toby suffered a traumatic brain injury following a serious assault. It was confirmed he had irreversible brain damage and injuries which have been life altering, and will likely to be permanent.

It is doubtful that he will ever walk again and he will probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He will always live with the neurological effects of the severe brain injury that he sustained from the violent assault he endured.

Thankfully, Toby has made some recovery. He is now minimally consciously aware andis learning to communicate, which is amazing. While we are devastated, we continue to hope for more progress with his recovery.

After 12 months in hospital, his rehab is coming to an end and he is being discharged next month. He will need care forever, but we are sure, with well laid plans and some support, together we can provide this for him.

In order to bring Toby home, we need to make some practical adaptations to our  house and fulfil the costs of his additional care needs and therapy.

We need to have a wheelchair friendly home for him, with ramps, wide doorways, functional flooring and lots of other recommendations. But right now, the priorities are setting up a wet room and a hoist.

Toby is desperate to come home and we are determined to achieve this for him. He has been through enough.
We want to give him the best recovery possible, and bring him as much happiness as we can. Home is the best place for him.

This last year has turned our lives upside down and, as you can imagine, has had a profound effect on every member of our family. Toby has only just turned 18 and has his whole life in front of him.

We can’t do this on our own so we desperately need your help.
Pease donate to Toby’s Recovery fund if you can. Every donation will be gratefully received, however big or small, it will make a huge difference. We will truly appreciate it, especially Toby.

With gratitude & love, Claire, Steve, Forlaith, Archie and Toby
