A family has paid tribute to a 20-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Hyson Green.
Esrom Ghide (pictured), of Radford, was taken to hospital following the incident in Hawksley Road at around 5.40pm on Wednesday (5 September) but died a short time later.
His family today issued a joint tribute to Esrom, saying: “Esrom was a wonderful young man that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. ‘Hanny,’ as he was called by his family and close friends, was an amazing son, and big brother and his passing has left a big hole in our lives.”
Five boys – three aged 14, one aged 16, and one aged 17 – have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and magistrates today granted detectives more time to question all of them.
Detective Inspector Justine Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said: “Knife crime has a huge impact on families and whole communities and Esrom’s family has been left devastated by his loss.
“There is no need to carry a knife in Nottinghamshire and no family should have to go through this.
“This is a fast-moving investigation with five youths already in custody but we would still like to hear from anyone who has information that could help. Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 710 of 5 September. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
