Fight breaks out on Lower Parliament Street

A man has been arrested after a brawl erupted in the middle of a street.

Officers were called after a group of men descended on Lower Parliament Street, in the city centre, at around 3.35am last night after receiving reports of a fight.

Once officers had diffused the incident a man reportedly failed to leave the scene and was arrested outside a shop in Lower Parliament Street after he allegedly became verbally abusive towards officers and resisted arrest.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and was later issued a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly.

Constable Susan Farren, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Incidents like this involving a group of people can be worrying for people to see but thankfully thanks to the quick response by officers the group was dispersed quickly from the area.

“Officers did make one arrest after one man reportedly refused to leave the scene and he was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest.

“We have now issued the man arrested with a fixed penalty notice after he was found to be drunk and disorderly in a city centre street.

“We would ask anyone with any information or who witnessed the incident to get in touch with the police to help us with our investigation.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any CCTV footage is urged to contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 61 of 10 December 2021.
