The incident was reported at around 8 am on Friday 10 November.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘At 8:16 am this morning we were alerted to a house fire in East Leake.
‘Three fire appliances were mobilised.
‘East Leake Fire Station crew was first on scene and found a bungalow with smoke issuing.
‘Luckily the occupant was alerted to the fire early by working smoke alarms and exited the property.
‘The occupant was examined by East Midlands Ambulance Service at the incident and all was well’
‘Two breathing apparatus crew entered the property to find the seat of the fire in the kitchen.
‘The fire was extinguished quickly but unfortunately the fire is believed to have been active for some time under the floor boards causing a large amount of damage.
‘It is really important that you test your smoke alarms weekly and ensure that you have an escape plan.’
