Stapleford Fire Station crews attended the incident in Bramcote.
A spokesperson said:
‘On Thursday evening, Team Stapleford and our Technical Rescue Team from Highfields Blue Watch attended an incident at King George’s Park, Bramcote.
‘A 9-year-old child had become trapped in play equipment and was in considerable pain and distress. Despite the fantastic efforts of passers-by, they were unable to free him.’
‘Using our spreaders, firefighters quickly freed the boy, who was then taken to hospital on the advice of our firefighter (and paramedic!) Joe Harte.
‘We’re pleased to hear that he’s expected to make a full recovery, and we wish him a speedy return to playing and smiling again.’
