The M1 northbound exit slip at junction 23 was closed from around 8 am to 10:30 am.
Firefighters from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene along with partners from EMAS and police.
The 44 tonne lorry was fully loaded with tyres when it caught fire on the exit slip road.
Traffic was stopped causing large queues on the carriage way ( below ) while teams supported by National Highways officers worked on the blaze.
