Fire update: Householders with ash in their garden urged to call councils over asbestos fears

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service are still at the scene of the recycling site blaze in Nottingham.

A spokesperson said this morning 1 February 2022:

‘There have been reports of asbestos in the area as a result of the fire.

‘Please avoid the area where possible.

‘If you have any ash in your garden or around your property, please contact your local authority.’

‘Abbeyfield Road is now open.

‘Due to the scale of the incident we are using pavements for some firefighting equipment.

‘If you are a pedestrian or cyclist in the area please be aware of this.

‘Thank you again to our communities for being patient with us during the incident.’
