Firefighters deal with industrial blaze in Stapleford

Crews attended the blaze on Friday 14 March.

A spokesperson for Stapleford Fire Station said:

‘At around 2 am on Friday morning, we attended a report of an industrial bin fire in Stapleford.

‘On arrival, the fire was well alight, and we worked hard to bring it under control as quickly as possible.

‘At 5:30 that morning, we returned to Albert Street and investigated a report of a building fire, which turned out to be a false alarm.

‘We were advised that the fire at 2 am had been intentionally started.

‘Let us take this opportunity to remind you that deliberately set fires have a significant impact on the local economy, damage the environment, destroy property, and, in the worst cases, can cost lives. In this instance, it was luck rather than judgment that the fire-setter did not cause serious damage to the surrounding properties.’
