Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services attended the incident on Saturday 27 January.
A spokesperson said:
‘Firefighters from Ashfield Fire Station have returned back to home station after assisting with a large animal rescue.
‘All Hoof and safety measures were carried out and the horse was rescued safely by disconnecting the gate from the fence, allowing it to walk away freely.
‘The horse was checked over by a vet and was ok, despite the long face.’
