Five arrests after robberies in Beeston and Chilwell

Three girls, aged 15, 17 and 17, as well as two boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested.

Officers arrested five people within an hour of receiving two robbery reports.

A woman is believed to have been punched, kicked and had her hair pulled as she was knocked to the floor in High Road, Chilwell, where a mobile phone was allegedly stolen.

Around half an hour after this incident, which happened at 8pm, it is reported a man was then approached by a group before being punched and robbed of his skateboard and phone in Styring Street, Beeston.

Three girls, aged 15, 17 and 17, as well as two boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested shortly after on suspicion of robbery, and remain in custody.

Detective Sergeant Julian Eminson-Ferry said: “Officers worked swiftly following these reports to identify suspects and by 9pm five people were on their way to custody.

“We understand how unnerving having something forcefully taken can be and the impact that robberies can have on victims, and we hope this swift action provides some reassurance to the community.

“Officers continue to investigate, including making CCTV enquiries, and we would urge anyone who witnessed either of the incidents, or has any information, to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 802 of 4 October 2021 for the Chilwell incident and 708 of 4 October 2021 for the Beeston incident.”
