Five-year football ban for man who threw glass at supporters’ bus at the City Ground

A five-year football banning order has been imposed on a man who damaged a minibus carrying fans visiting the City Ground.

Richard Stanford, 31, of Kimberley, threw a pint glass at a mini bus that had fans inside who were heading to a football match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United on 8 February 2020.

The ban was implemented yesterday (17 March 2020). Stanford was also ordered to pay £200 compensation and a £213 fine.

Inspector Rob Taylor, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police has a zero-tolerance approach to illegal activity at football matches.

“Football is a sport that should be an enjoyable, safe environment for fans of both home and away sides and today’s sentence reinforces the positive stance that Nottinghamshire Police take against football related violence and disorder.
