The Environment Agency in the East Midlands is continuing to urge people across the region to check their flood risk and to stay away from swollen rivers and watercourses.
With further rain forecast over the weekend, new flood warnings and alerts are likely to be activated.
The Environment Agency said:
‘At present, at 2 pm on Friday 8 December 2023, we have six warnings and 11 alerts active.
‘Our teams will be working over the weekend to minimise the impacts of flooding where possible.
‘We are urging people to keep checking their flood risk and not to drive through flood water which can move vehicles in levels of only 30cm.’
