Fly-tip of scarves in Nottinghamshire ‘could have helped Ukraine’ says councillor

An Independent Councillor from Sutton-in-Ashfield has asked the Council’s enforcement team to investigate yet more fly-tipping at the top of St Michael’s Street in the town.

Amongst the dumped items – a set of scarves.  This comes just weeks after beer kegs were dumped in the locality.

Councillor Hennigan who represents Sutton Central and New Cross on Ashfield District Council said:

‘This latest fly-tipping beggars belief.

‘Not a day goes by when we don’t see pictures of refugees fleeing war-torn Ukraine in freezing conditions.

‘In Ashfield, the relief effort has been been amazing – it always is.  For somebody to think it’s OK to dump these items – when they could have been put to good use in Ukraine is so frustrating.’

“It appears that yet again – somebody thinks it’s OK to dump this stuff on our streets.  I’ve asked Ashfield District Council’s enforcement team to carry out a thorough investigation.  I’d ask anybody with information to call the Council on 01623 450 000.”
