Food delivery rider robbed in a Nottingham street

Two suspects have been arrested after a delivery rider was robbed in a Nottingham  street.

Officers were initially called to the Cornerhouse, in Burton Street, Nottingham, around 12.25am on Tuesday (10 September) following reports a door at a restaurant had been damaged.

A further report of criminal damage was then received from a second restaurant, in Trinity Square, after a glass door was broken.

A third call was received a short time later that a man was being attacked by two offenders in nearby Milton Street.

Officers arrived at the scene and swiftly detained two suspects.

The victim of the robbery, a delivery rider, reported he had been hit to the head and body after refusing to hand over his bicycle to the offenders.

He was not seriously injured but did report being racially abused by one of his attackers.

When the suspects were being dealt with in the custody suite, one officer reported being spat at.

Two girls, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of robbery, criminal damage, threatening behaviour and assault on an emergency worker.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We won’t tolerate this sort of behaviour on our streets and the officers on duty should be commended for the swift and efficient arrests of these two suspects.

“This delivery driver was assaulted and threatened as he tried to earn a living, while two businesses are now counting the cost after being vandalised.

“We never underestimate the emotional impact of this sort of offending on victims, even when they are not seriously injured.

“Our investigation is ongoing, and anyone with any information or footage which could help should call 101, quoting incident number 7 of 10 September 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
