Football goalposts destroyed and strewn across a West Bridgford park

Vandalism has been reported at a West Bridgford playing fields.

Dog walkers spotted the aftermath of a suspected incident of vandalism this morning at Gresham Playing Fields off Wilford Lane in West Bridgford.

It is suspected that the damage was probably caused overnight on Monday 10 April.

There are two football pitches marked out on the fields, one of which appears to have been dismantled or broken and smashed apart.

Pictures show one of the goal frames completely smashed to the ground, and one part of it has been dragged and left 100m metres away near one of the entrances to the park.

A Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesperson said:

“Vandalism at the site was reported to the Council on Monday April 10 and we are working with Police and our Community Safety colleagues on the matter but there is no impact on the availability of the football pitches.

“Should anyone witness anti-social behaviour at the site please call the Police on the non-emergency number 101.”
