In-Form Nottingham Rugby Face Welsh Challenge

Unbeaten in their last five games in both league and cup, a buoyant Nottingham Rugby side travel to Old Deer Park on Saturday afternoon (2pm kick-off), knowing they face a formidable challenge to make it six, as they take on a London Welsh team smarting from two recent, narrow defeats.

Green and Whites Head Coach Ian Costello has made three changes to his starting line-up, which secured a last-gasp 19-19 home draw against Rotherham Titans last weekend, with Darryl Veenendaal returning at scrum half, alongside tighthead Ben Hooper and lock Toby Freeman, who are both promoted to the first XV, after featuring as replacements in last Sunday’s deadlocked encounter.

Prop Tom Heard and scrum half Murray McConnell are selected on the bench, alongside loosehead Harry Morley and back rower Josh Poullet, who both make a return to the 22-man squad.

The shares were spoiled in the two league matches between the two sides last season, with Nottingham coming out on top at The Bay back in October 2015, winning 30-10, thanks to tries from Ricky Andrew, Paul Grant and current London Welsh centre Heath Stevens. In February of this year, the Green and Whites took a bonus point away from Old Deer Park, as they lost narrowly. Josh Skelcey grabbing a brace of tries as the Exiles won the game 22-18.
