Four arrests after 50 bags of cannabis found during car stop in Nottingham

Four suspected drug dealers have been arrested after police found more than 50 bags of cannabis during a car stop.

Officers on patrol in Arkwright Street, The Meadows, Nottingham, pulled over the vehicle at around 2.50pm on Tuesday (19 September) after intelligence suggested it was being driven without insurance.

They found bags of the Class B drug in a man bag inside the car, in a man’s pockets and concealed in his underwear. A small amount of suspected heroin, cash and mobile phones were also found inside the vehicle.

Two men, aged 21 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. The 25-year-old was further detained on suspicion of possession of heroin.

As part of their investigation, officers later searched a property in Alfreton Road, Radford, where they found a large amount of cannabis and a friction lock baton.

Two men, aged 19 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

Police Constable Ken Tinley, of Nottinghamshire Police’s city knife crime team, said:

“This is a good example of why we make proactive car stops like this.

“It also highlights why we follow up these stops by searching properties as part of our investigation.

“As a knife crime team these car stops are an important part of our work and are making a real difference to keep our streets safe.

“We will always take action to stop criminals using our streets to push drugs to vulnerable people and spread misery for their own profits.

“Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
