Four arrests have been made as police investigate two stabbing incidents in Bestwood.
Police were called to Eardley Road shortly before 9pm last night (15 February) following a report of a fight involving a group of youths inside an address.
Two boys, aged 16, were found with minor injuries.
One had a low-level stab wound to the leg and the other had a low-level wound to the arm.
They were both taken to Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.
Following enquiries, a 16-year-old boy and two girls, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody.
Later in the evening, shortly after 10.30pm, we were called to Chippenham Road following reports of three men fighting in the street with weapons.
A man was found with stab wounds and taken to Queen’s Medical Centre.
His injuries are also not considered to be life-altering or life-threatening.
Our detectives are satisfied the incidents are not linked, and a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray as part of the latter incident in Chippenham Road, where a police cordon is in place.
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones said: “We know incidents like these cause great concern to our communities, and we take them extremely seriously.
“I’d like to reassure people that we have a large team investigating both incidents, and we have increased reassurance patrols in the area while our enquiries continue.
“If anyone has any concerns, we’d encourage them to speak to one of our officers.
“Whilst we are keeping an open mind, we are satisfied these incidents are not linked and we do not believe there is a risk to the wider public.
“I’d like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while we carry out our enquiries in the area.”
We are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has any information about these incidents to come forward.
