Police arrested four people and seized knives after quickly responding to reports of a street fight.
Officers were called to Muriel Road, Beeston, at around 6.05am on Thursday (16 June), following reports of a disturbance.
It is believed that a fight had taken place just minutes earlier, which resulted in two people sustaining minor injuries.
Police intercepted a car as they arrived at the scene, with multiple suspects then abandoning the vehicle and running away from the scene in the direction of Wollaton Road, Beeston.
Following a short foot pursuit, four suspects were detained, with eagle-eyed officers spotting one of the suspects drop a knife on the floor after they’d been arrested.
Police also seized two knives from the car they’d stopped when they first arrived at the scene.
Three men, aged 21, 21 and 23, were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article.
A 19-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of affray.
All four suspects have been released under investigation.
Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The force treats all incidents of violence in our communities extremely seriously and will always respond to all reports we receive of this nature.
“We’d also like to reiterate the important message that it is never acceptable for anyone to ever carry knives on our streets.
“Thanks to the swift response of our officers who were on the scene within minutes of receiving the call, we were able to arrest four suspects and recover a number of dangerous weapons.
“We are still investigating this incident, so would urge anyone that has any information that could assist us with our enquiries to get in touch with us immediately on 101, quoting incident 87 of 16 June 2022, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The arrests come as Nottinghamshire Police this week celebrates the second national ‘response policing week of action’.
During the week of action, which runs until Sunday (19 June 2022), the force has been shining a light on some of the great work being done by response officers and giving an insight into the vital role they play in protecting the public and bringing criminals to justice.
