Officers attended the scene within minutes of the initial call coming in and arrested seven suspects.

Detectives have today (4 July) charged four of these suspects with different offences.

Bendr Omar, 23, of Meadow Lane, Sneinton, has been charged with attempted murder and violent disorder.

Farman Ali, 29, of Meadow Lane, Sneinton, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.

Aso Mohammad, 34, of Noel Street, Hyson Green, has been charged with grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.

Amine Mohamad, 43, of no fixed address, has been charged with violent disorder.

All four suspects have been remanded into custody, ahead of an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (5 July).

Police have also today arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. He remains in custody.

Two men, aged 30 and 33, previously arrested on suspicion of affray and assisting an offender, have been released on conditional bail.

A 38-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of affray has been disregarded as a suspect and released without any further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“A lot of police work has gone into unpicking what happened, so we’re pleased to be able to announce these four charges and this additional arrest today.

“Our thoughts remain with the injured man who is still receiving treatment in hospital.

“We appreciate this incident will have caused concern to anyone from the community who witnessed it or woke the next day to read about it.

“While we hope the progress made in this investigation so far will provide them with some reassurance, we will also be stepping up visible police patrols in the area over the coming days too.”
