Free bike security marking and registering session in Radcliffe on Trent

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Community Safety team and Nottinghamshire Police will host their next bike security session in Radcliffe on Trent.

The even is this Saturday, May 21 to assist cycle owners with measures to deter thieves.

In partnership with BikeRegister, the event will take place at village’s Skate Park on Wharf Lane at NG12 2AP from 10am until midday.

It will be another opportunity to have a bike security labelled as a visible deterrent to bike thieves and registering can enable the rightful owner to be traced and reunited with their bike if stolen.

There will also be a limited supply of D locks to swap free of charge for old, weaker locks and some alarmed shed padlocks to help protect bikes whist locked up at home.

Bikes are often the target for shed and outbuilding burglaries, particularly during the spring and summer when residents can be less aware of security when using the buildings more regularly and can be easy for a burglar to access and once inside find bikes are not secured.

Whether a bike is parked up in the street or in an outbuilding at home it is equally important for it to be secured with a strong lock, preferably anchored to something else too, like another bike or a lawn mower.
