Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Community Safety team and Nottinghamshire Police will host their next bike registering session this Saturday.
The event takes place in West Bridgford on 24 September to assist cycle owners with measures to deter thieves.
In partnership with BikeRegister, the event will take place on Bridge Field NG2 6AP adjacent to Bridgford Road car park from 11am to 1pm.
It will be another opportunity to have a bike security labelled as a visible deterrent to bike thieves and registering can enable the rightful owner to be traced and reunited with their bike if stolen.
There will also be a limited supply of D locks to swap free of charge for old, weaker locks and some alarmed shed padlocks to help protect bikes whist locked up at home.
Bikes are often the target for shed and outbuilding burglaries where residents can be less aware of security and can be easier for a burglar to access, once inside to find bikes are not secured.
Whether a bike is parked up in the street or in an outbuilding at home it is equally important for it to be secured with a strong lock, preferably anchored to something else too, like another bike or a lawn mower.
