Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Community Safety team and Nottinghamshire Police will host a bike security and minor repairs session outside Rushcliffe Arena from 10am until midday on Saturday 26 February.
Courtesy of Dr Bike and in partnership with BikeRegister, the event will be another opportunity to have a bike security labelled as a visible deterrent to bike thieves.
Registering will enable the rightful owner to be traced and could reunited them with their bike if stolen.
Cyclists can also get minor repairs on their bikes fixed for free as part of the dedicated event as well as receive advice and an assessment from a qualified mechanic. Event goers are advised there may be waiting times to receive this service.
Bike users attending the event will also hear how to further protect their cycles from thieves including the use of stronger locks and how bikes should always be locked up in a public and well-lit area, or securely locked up in garages and out-buildings at home.
There will be a limited supply of free bikes locks at the event, allocated on a swap a lock system on a first come first served basis.
