Cyclists can get their bikes securely marked with their postcode for free this Saturday, June 26, as part of Water Safety Week activities at Holme Pierrepont Country Park.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Community Safety team and Nottinghamshire Police will join Notts Fire and Rescue and further partners near Holme Lock, within the Country Park, off Adbolton Lane, NG12 2LU from 11am to 2pm.
The event will be another opportunity to have your bike security marked or registered as a permanent way to mark a bike’s property and ensure it is returned to the rightful owner if it is stolen.
Bike users attending the event will receive advice on how to further protect their cycles from thieves with the use of stronger locks and how bikes should always be locked up in a public and well-lit area.
Weak locks can also be swapped for a ‘D’ lock at the event, whilst stocks last.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service will also be hosting activities as part of Water Safety Week, encouraging residents to only enter water in areas staffed by lifeguards, and whether a local swimming pool or the beach, to take care.
Water that might look tranquil and peaceful can be hiding dangers that might take people by surprise, such as strong currents, a cold temperature and items below the surface.
They’re encouraging all to never enter water if someone is struggling, to always call 999 immediately and ask for the fire service and ambulance. If by the coast, make sure to ask for the Coastguard.
