Free cycling activities at Rushcliffe Country Park event this week

Residents of all ages are invited to take part in a day of free cycling activities at Rushcliffe Country Park next week.

This Summer’s Cycling event takes place on Wednesday, August 9 from 11 am to 2 pm and will include taster sessions with British Cycling and a bike maintenance and minor repairs workshop with Dr Bike.

The Council’s Community Safety Team will also provide a bike marking and registering session and RideWise will have a range of adapted bikes for people to try out.

The event is free to attend and no booking is required for any of the activities.

It’s all part of Rushcliffe Borough Council’s partnership with British Cycling and RideWise encouraging residents to get back on their bike and enjoy an even healthier and active lifestyle.

It also links with this month’s Population Health Management campaign focussing on Physical Activity which is aimed at promoting local services available to anyone and getting people to be more active.

The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Transformation, Leisure and Wellbeing Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “This event is a great opportunity to visit our much-loved country park, take in the fresh air and enjoy an event that offers a variety of cycling activities for both adults and children.

“As well as enjoying group cycling sessions, don’t miss out on the opportunity to protect your bike by getting it registered and marked for free by our Community Safety team and don’t forget there’s the fantastic BMX track on site at the park.

“We welcome all cycling abilities, whether you are a beginner and want to gain confidence or are an experienced cyclist looking to meet other cycling enthusiasts.”
