The amphibian was more than 5,300 miles away from its regular home in the rainforest by staff at the branch on Sunday.

Lidl employees at the store named the frog Lloyd – they told the RSPCA that it was sitting on top of the bananas as they started to stack the fruit onto shelves.

Lloyd is now in the care of a vet who specialises in exotic animals.

RSPCA Nottingham officer Hayley Day said the supermarket staff “seemed quite taken with him”.
